I was cleaning my DD's room when I discovered that one of the yellow balls was missing from the trundle bed (I bought this on Ebay last fall and DD got it for Christmas). I asked Lindsay about it and she told me that her friend accidentally broke it. Of course she doesn't remember exactly when it was, but thinks it was sometime in January. Oy. That ball could be anywhere by now!

I've cleaned both girls rooms from top to bottom and the ball hasn't surfaced. I even offered a cash reward to the one who could find it. LOL!!

ANYway... what should I do now? Should I replace it and try to match the paint?? I would think this would be next to impossible to do. Should I repaint all the balls a new color so they will at least all be the same? If so, what color do you think would look good with the yellow?

I've explained to DD that I am not mad that the bed got broken, but I am upset that she didn't tell me right away. I hope she understands now to let me know next time so I can try to repair the item.

The balls were still available as a replacement part last summer. It's certainly worth a phone call to CS to see if any are still there.

I think the first thing to ask yourself, is what your longterm purpose is for the bed. Is it going to be a family piece that she might pass along to her own child someday? Do you want to resell it? Or, is it simply a playtoy? Also, how important are the balls to the appearance of the bed? If the balls are really important to you, you might try AG Customer Service first. It's slim, but there's always a chance they have them as replacement parts. If they don't, I would recommend removing one of the good balls and taking it to the craft store to match in size, and look for a bottle of arylic paint that is the closest match to the color. If you can't get a match that's good enough, I would repaint all the balls. If you are really worried about the balls, you could also take them all off and place them somewhere safe, and then put in all new replacements. That way you have all matching balls on the bed, and you haven't done anything to change the original ones. The other option, is just removing them altogether, and let her play with the bed with out them. Good Luck!

Thanks for your input, Dee. I appreciate it!

I am not really worried about keeping the bed in pristine condition (i.e., I'm not planning to sell it or anything), but I am a little bit anal about things with missing or mismatched parts. I can't tell you how many times I have bought a whole new set of something just because one piece went missing. LOL!

I will probably wait a while longer to see if the missing ball shows up. (That is usually the trend around here... as soon as I replace something, the original gets found. ) After that I will do my best to match a replacement ball... or maybe I'll be able to get one from CS or something.

In any event, if the remaining three balls are easily removable, I think I will take your advice and put them away until I figure things out.

Well, If you can't get a replacment part, Home Depot can color match the paint so it's the same color! It really works to! We color matched a color form a sample of wallpaper, & it's EXACTLY the same! HTH!!!
